In its second installment, the Game Dev Days Graz, organized by Game Dev Graz and Graz University of Technology, have already become a major hotspot for both local and international game developers. In 2017, the three days long event offered a wide range of industry insights to its 300+ attendees.

In cooperation with Kunsthaus Graz, which provided all visitors a truly unique atmosphere, the first day focused on virtual reality (VR), kicking off with a panel discussion of experts from the games industry (Alen Ladavac, Croteam), academia/education (Johanna Pirker, TU Graz), and media and content creators (Kris Staber, Tristan Schulze, Reni Hofmueller), followed by an exhibition where everyone was able to try out the latest in VR games and experiences first-hand.

Day two was packed with talks covering all areas of game development, starting with a remarkable keynote from award-winning indie game developer Dan Da Rocha, managing director of Toxic Games, about their journey of making Q.U.B.E. 2. It continued with talks about the latest projects of local studios Mi'pu'mi, Rarebyte, and Sproing, where the latter one took the opportunity to announce their upcoming mobile game KISS - Rock City for the first time in public.

More talks and presentations also covered topics like F2P, community building, common challenges of indie game development, and also technical insights, especially by Patrick Klug of Australian/Austrian-based studio Greenheart Games, now probably known as one of the fastest speakers of both hemispheres. The day was then concluded by closing keynote speaker Clemens Scott, talking about the art of Broken Rules' award-winning game Old Man's Journey, followed by an evening of networking and playing the many games in the exhibition area.

To complete the three-day event, a "social Sunday" took attendees to a very relaxed winetasting tour through Southern Styria where they enjoyed the local food, drinks, and even more casual networking.

Der Verein Game Development Graz zusammen mit der Technische Universität Graz veranstalten am Samstag, dem 2. September heuer bereits zum zweiten Mal die Game Dev Days in Graz. Das Community-Event ist als Plattform für alle gedacht, die sich für Spieleentwicklung interessieren und hat zum Ziel, Spieleentwicklerinnen und Spieleentwickler aus ganz Österreich und Europa zu vernetzen, neue Technologien, Designkonzepte, oder Game Art-Stile zu diskutieren und die Spiele anderer Entwicklerinnen und Entwickler kennenzulernen. Heuer werden mehr als 20 internationale (Österreich, Deutschland, Schweiz, Italien, Spanien und Kroatien bis jetzt) Speakerinnen und Speaker ihre Erfahrung in den Bereichen Technologie, Projektmanagement, Game Art, Design und Industrieerfahrung weitergeben und etwa 20 Spiele hergezeigt. Ein zusätzliches "Schmankerl" ist heuer das Zusatzevent "VR Playful Art", welches am Freitag, dem 1. September in den Ausstellungsräumen des Kunsthauses stattfindet. VR Spiele und interaktive Erfahrungen werden ausgestellt und ein Panel mit internationalen Teilnehmern führt den Diskurs über VR als Schnittstelle von Technik zur Kunst. From August 27 - 28, 2016 the first Game Dev Days took place at TU Graz, featuring lots of talks, game exhibitions, and socializing. The event attracted about 200 game developers, students and educators from all over Europe. Have a look at the talks:
